Messaging Patterns
Messages, Schemas and Maps are the artifacts used for Message oriented integrations. When a message is sent from source to destination the messages would be re-defined and sent as per destination systems expectation. Either its base message or enriched message the pattern used for integration is purely depends on schema(.xsd) defined.
Orchestration Patterns
Content based router, Dynamic router, Error handling, Exception handling and Compensation, Message Broker & Filter, Parallel Convoy, Scatter and Gather, Sequential Convoy, Splitter and Suspend with retry are the design patterns used for Integrating Business process.
Adapters, Ports and Pipelines
Also can be defined as Routing patterns. This allows the messages to be processed through a particular port(physical port in admin console), Pipelines(used for assembler/disassemble, validate, encrypt, decrypt) and Adapters which are used to send and receive with secure transport properties.
